Summerbaby

Song Length - 3:24

This song was only used once during the Pete and Pete, but it is one of the most famous Polaris songs as there is a whole episode devoted to it. It is Little Pete's newly discovered favourite song in "Hard Day's Pete" (named after the Beatles film). Here Pete catches Miracle Legion (Previous incarnation of Polaris with extra guitarist Mr. Ray) jamming Summerbaby in Mrs. Chicutti's garage. Having found his favourite song, it soon begins to disappear as the band are no where to be found (hence the description on the Kelloggs tape which we have used on the band biography page). Little Pete forms a band with the sole aim of rediscovering the song and by the end of the episode he does just that. The episode ends with Little Pete and the Blowholes singing Summerbaby in his garage.

Not all the song can be heard on the show, for instance the part about Vincent Van Gogh is not heard being sung by Polaris (although Little Pete can be heard mumbling this part of the song whilst appealing to wart radio listeners). Also the line which says "every drop of sex" was changed to "every time I guess" in the interests of Pete and Pete being a family show.

Lyrics:

Summerbaby, come on baby, show me the town,
I didn't know that you'd be such a short visit.
Once a year I noticed that you're not around,
Mama says you went when you were exquisite.

If you seen all I done,
When I'm alone I do things that nobody knows.
.

We were all wandering where you came from,
Last night we were hypothesising that you were an angel,
Sometimes it feels like you're looking down,
From up above, where angels are found
.

If you seen all I done,
When I'm alone I do things that nobody knows.
Every drop of sex and every little mess I make,
I was around, I was around.
I was around, nobody knows nobody knows
(times 4).

Do you see a lot of angels up there like you,
Wolfgang and Vincent Van Gogh,
Have you seen Josephine,
Someone from town like Marshall Brown or someone you know.

If you seen all I done,
When I'm alone I do things that nobody knows.
Every drop of sex and every little mess I make,
I was around,
(times 3),
I was around, nobody knows, nobody knows, (times 8)
