Waiting for October

Song Length - 3:52

Waiting for October was first used in Pete and Pete in the second series - aired in 1994. It was used to exit the show on a number of occasions - "Grounded for Life" and "Pinned" to name just two such episodes. Again, the version used was shorter starting on the fifth line of the album track and ending shortly after the first slower section.

Thanks to Dudeman3333@hotmail.com for the following information and lyrics.

"The song is about a religious nut outside of (or maybe inside) the gigantic Billy Graham "concert" thing in NYC (in 1991 I think).  The nut is saying to the people leaving that the end of the world is coming on October 28th, 1999.  I know nothing about religion, so maybe somebody else can figure out the missing lyrics. Parentheses
are around the stuff I'm not sure about."

Lyrics

They're playing in Central Park
Check out him, he's shouting at the gate
"Billy didn't tell you everything
or did he mention the magic day?"

Well I figured it out from a fig tree
It's that (or what's...I have no idea on this one, the last word might be silk)
Now you been bad for 50 years
and now it looks like that he's taking off his belt (or Isabelle?)

(Chorus 1)
Waiting for October
I cross my fingers
cross my heart
and hope to die

(Chorus 2)
Waiting for October
I'm in the book
and I'll be learning how to fly

He's coming down but he's not alone
He's gonna bring an army of saints
and he's taking all his back home
and then destroying what remains

Chorus 1

Waiting for October
I'm in the book
and I'll be learning
to be wings
to be wings

Hoping that the end
will start it all again

And that's when numeral history will die
I said and that's (the word or what's) so right about the day
Cause it all ends in 1999
and commences on the 28th, the 28th, the 28th

Chorus 1
Chorus 2
Chorus 1
Chorus 2

Hopin' that the end
will start it all again
(repeat x 5)
