Dave Martel (aka Teddy Foresman) Interview

(interview conducted in 1997)

1.Did you enjoy taking part in Pete and Pete?

It was very exciting for me to be a part of "Pete and Pete." Not only from an acting standpoint, but just being around all of the different people doing different tasks around the set was very exciting. Some of the sets and props were really extensive and the talent that went into constructing them was awesome.

2.Would you have gone back for a fourth series of Pete and Pete if you were asked?

I definitely would have participated if the show filmed a fourth season. It is a shame it ended after getting such great reviews.

3.What does the L stand for in Theodore L Foresman?

I actually don't think I know what the L stands for, (unless I am forgetting). It wasn't emphasized too much in the show. If anyone figures it out, please E-mail me.

4.Are you at all like Teddy in real life?

I have caught myself saying "what, you didn't know that?" before, but I don't think I have a whole lot in common with Teddy. I think when I was younger, especially during the first season, I had more in common with him.

5.Is there anything you didn't enjoy doing in Pete and Pete. What was the worst thing?

I didn't have the best time with the speed walking. I had a hard time getting it exactly the way the director wanted it. I hit my head a few times during different episodes but nothing that was too bad.

6.And what was the best thing?

I really enjoyed getting to play Endless Mike Hellstrom in "Pinned." The scene where I got to wrestle Pete was fun. During the filming of that scene I hit my head on the camera during a shot where I slammed Pete onto the mat. (I don't think they used that cut)

7.What was your favourite episode to film and to watch?

"Yellow Fever" was a fun episode to film because I got to know a lot of different kids who played students on the bus. We all bonded during the long hours sitting in that bus. (The bus was being pulled by another vehicle during some of the scenes)

8.What were the rest of the cast like?

The rest of the cast were helpful and I definitely learned a lot from all of them. Everyone had their own skills to add to the production.

9.Who invented the almighty soul shake and your catchphrases? They deserve a medal.

The writers and/or staff of the show created the catchphrases. Mike M. (Big Pete) and I created the soul shake together during "The Trouble with Teddy."

10.One of life's great mysteries is the second line of the P&P theme tune. What do you think it is?

I have listened to it so many times that if I did know, I don't remember.

11.Do you have any idea what Will McRobb and Chris Viscardi are up to now?

They have been working on a Nickelodeon show called Kablam! They have also had some projects in the works for ABC/Disney.

12.What will you be doing next?

I am currently working on Jaws and Claws on the Discovery channel and I hope to do more work on a television series in the near future (nothing in the works as of yet). Anyone have any suggestions?
